Date : 21th JUN 2018

Time : 9:30 AM

Description : International Day of Yoga, or commonly and unofficially referred to as Yoga Day, is celebrated annually on 21 June since its inception in 2015. An international day for yoga was declared unanimously by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice originated in India. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his UN address suggested the date of 21 June, as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shares a special significance in many parts of the world. Like every year VIVA Institute of Applied art celebrated International Yoga day by performing Asanas by students and professors along with the non teaching staff as well. Final Year BFA 18-19 student Ms. Renu Dharmadhikari who is a frequent follower and performer of Yoga conducted the workshop along with Prof. Sangeeta Kurup. The session was held at the entrance corridor of the institute and and the entire premises was enchanted by OMKAR NAAD. The echoing of Gayatri Mantra was soothing to the body mind and soul. Ms. Renu performed few Asanas and also asked all participants to follow her with a very peaceful manner. Ms. Renu demonstrated the effective Asanas like KAPALBHATI & ANULOMVILOM with excellence too. The session ended with stretching and all the participants felt the calm in the body and soul and started the day.
